spring crocus, Crocus vernus
I was just reading, for the second time in two days, that there aren’t many flowers around in May in Switzerland. That jogged my memory to post this which was actually back in April but it’s a great group of crocuses, or croci if you prefer, which pop out as soon as the snow clears.
Obviously I’ve posted crocus photo’s before but it’s a nice group.
spring crocus, Crocus vernus
Obviously I’d posted a photo of a spring crocus before but this group was quite striking. They were just near a small mountain chapel at Moléson the other day.
liverleaf (hepatica nobilis)
This doesn’t flower for very long and the one and only time I’ve seen one is in the French Vanoise National Park. It’s leaf is shaped like a liver and was once considered to be a treatment for liver complaints including hepatitis although there’s no evidence to support this.
