This is wild violet and doesn’t have the fragrance that cultivated violets have. It’s quite common in spring in the forests of the Swiss plateau.

Another local trip on the mountain bike, this time with Julie though. Along the way we found this incredible statue of a horse made from horseshoes, it’s really an amazing piece of work and stands outside quite a nice restaurant which I’d not been aware was there previously.

We spent quite some time going through local communal forests on various tracks, it’s always interesting as the tracks move over time so I’ve never got an accurate map and you can never rely on any particular track being passable.

In the woods a lot of flowers are in full bloom now, above left is the white colored wood sorrel and the purple flower is a hairy violet.

The other white flower is a wood anemone  which are pretty common this time of year and the bed of purple flowers are lesser periwinkles. Close up this is a vivid and and attractive flower :
