We’ve had a group here for a few days from Bridgewater School in the UK as part of their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) award and we’ve been out enjoying some fantastic spring weather.
The first day we headed up to Lac Mayen and got used to moving on snowshoes before trying out some searches with avalanche transceivers. And enjoying a picnic…
That part of the ski area is already closed which is great for the group, it means we’ve got it to ourselves and all we see all day is some marmottes. And of course, the backdrop is stunning, that’s the Dents du Midi and Mt Blanc in the background of the photo (below).
On the way down we have a quick look at my geocache which has survived the winter without any problems.
We walk on snowshoes a good distance to the village before carrying them a short way and stopping off at a cafe for ice cream and drinks in the sun.
