Pic Chaussy

Snow conditions still aren’t ideal, but there are some great days out to be had if you know where to look. Pic Chaussy has a number of north-facing slopes and holds snow really quite well so even though the ski runs in the Col des Mosses were closed there was still good snow higher up. We set off from above the village of Les Mosses as the road was open and snow-free for a quite a way. Our route took us up via Lac Lioson and had pretty good cover all the way, for a descent, we took the petit-lacs routes which was fine on snowshoes but would have been difficult on skis.

All in all, a great day in a snow drought!
