The col de la Croix is always a reliable destination on snowshoes and today we had time to climb the Pointe d’Arpille as well. It’s a rounded peak with a nice ridge approach and descent off a convex slope onto another ridge. Stepping off the summit is a little odd for a few metres and it can feel like you’re throwing yourself off a cliff!
The route itself was still holding pretty good snow making it a good day out and a good birthday (I hope!) for one of the clients I was with. certainly the summit of Pointe d’Arpille made a great picnic spot.
