Spring seems to be hanging on this year and summer slow to arrive. There’s still quite a bit of snow above 1800m around the area, probably a little more than usual although it’s hard to be exact about these things.
I’ve just walked up from Solalex to above the refuge Giacomini and there’s about 90% snow cover down to 1800m. A couple of the routes I’d had in mind for a group next week look fairly impractical but I think the rain that’s now falling at village level will clear a lot of snow up to around 2000m at a guess.
