La Via ferrata des Dames Anglaises, Les Diablerets

This is only the second time I’ve climbed this via Ferrata. The first time was last year when Sarah and I did it in in one 6-hour speed ascent. This time Julie, Sarah and I decided to make it a more relaxed ascent and spent the night in the refuge Pierredar.

The first day is a 1200m climb from the village of Les Diablerets up through the forest. When the trail leaves the forest it crosses over steep rocky ground before arrived at the refuge Pierredar.

The next day we had a leisurely start from the refuge and crossed the broken ground below the via Ferrata itself. Unlike last year there was still snow in the gully which made the approach much easier. Fast flowing water last year had forced us to climb higher to find a safe crossing resulting in a precarious scramble over scree and terminal moraine to get onto the route.

Having climbed the route and had a beer at the restaurant inside the ski station we joined the sightseers for an obligatory photo on the Peak Walk.
