Corsica GR20 September – North

I was lucky enough to spend the first two weeks of September on the Mediterranean island of Corsica guiding the famous, or infamous, GR20. It’s a wild route over a wild and rugged island. This was the first time I’d taken the North-South route and the first time taking the alternate route to the now-closed Cirque de la Solitude. These are a few snaps from the North section of the route.

While the Cirque de la Solitude was an excellent route I’d say the alternative may be even better. It’s a little more varied terrain and the long section on chains and gear is replaced by more varied scrambling and hiking over dramatic mountains. It’s a long day though and we were glad to reach the Bergeries de Ballone for the night.
