I’ve known for a year that the annual assembly of the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA) was going to in Poprad, Slovakia at the foothills of the High Tatras. It’s somewhere I’ve never visited and I really looked forward to it. It’s quite extraordinary to visit countries that didn’t exist on the map when I was at school!
The assembly was four days of really hard work followed by just one day in the mountains. But, the mountains are great and it was all worth it! During the assembly I’m delighted that we welcomed Austria and Macedonia as full members of UIMLA with Hungary, Slovenia and Sweden joining as aspirant countries.
