As we had another errand in the valley yesterday it seemed a good idea to combine that with a trip to a couple of the smaller ski stations on the MagicPass that we have. I’ve skied at Paccots before but not for a long time and I’d never skied at the nearby Rathvel. On paper, or the internet, Rathvel looks pretty tiny and you might expect a drag lift and a single run. In fact, it’s like a lot of the smaller stations in this region who offer some great terrain. It’s in canton Fribourg where we used to live and I’ve visited most of those stations and they’re all great.
We skied at Rathvel to around lunch time and then drove a couple of kilometres back to Paccots. Without a doubt, the highlight of Paccots was the short and fun black piste off the high point. When we left at around 3 pm it was actually busy and what had been an empty car park was full with coaches brings school ski groups.
