Our regional MagicPass ski passes give access to a few small stations around the French-speaking part of Switzerland including three stations along the side of the Lac de Joux in the Vallée de Joux which is in the Jura along the French border. Given the great conditions we headed over and skied all three in the day.
Le Brassus was the first stop, it’s got a couple of drag lifts and starts at around 1100m. The views of over the rolling hills of the Jura are great and give it a different feel from the alpine stations we’re used to here in Leysin.
From Le Brassus it’s a quick drive to the village of L’Orient with a single drag lift. The one lift actually runs a long way and there’s a couple of great long runs winding down through the trees. We pretty much had the place to ourselves apart from a group of local school children.
And then finally to L’Abbaye with three main lifts and the biggest of the three with the most varied terrain. The real standout attraction of L’Abbaye is that the top lift takes you onto the main Jura ridge-line giving views back to the alps on one side and the lac de Joux on the other.
