The new telecabine in Les Diablerets runs in the summer now and you can take a bike or e-bike inside. It runs from the village up to the top of the col de la Croix so it avoids a long climb and it’s worth using to explore the many trails around the Villars/Les Diablerets area.
From the top of the lift I took a route on the north side of the ridge and then climbed to the col de Bretaye before descending on the south a little way and then looping to the west of the ridge and taking a route back on the north crisscrossing the rail line from Aigle to Les Diablerets. I did skip a forest section that I thought would just be deep mud and used the road which wasn’t terribly interesting!
Since the lift was still running I rode it back up again to descend through the forests to the village as it’s a nice flowing descent on fire roads and farm tracks.
