It’s been a tough couple of years and one of the impacts has been on the normal training for our UIMLA aspirant members. As a result of the relationship between UIMLA and MountainSafety.info I invited Manuel Genswein to join BAIML in a special training event in Les Diablerets in the Swiss Alps. Manuel is an expert in all aspects of avalanche safety and shared his expertise with 12 BAIML aspirants joined by BAIML directors Peter Chapman and myself.
In addition to reviewing technical skills in searching and digging we took another couple of days around the Alpes Vaudoise area to practise those skills and look at what makes great days for clients on snowshoes.
The event was a great success and we want to run more in future! Good luck to our aspirant members with their upcoming winter assessments!
