This week I’ve been at the International Commission for Alpine Rescue ICAR convention in nearby Montreux. I’m a delegate to AVACOM which is the Avalanche Commission. I’ve also been representing UIMLA and I was invited by MountainSafety.info to make a presentation about about how their avalanche education resources are used in a professional setting like UIMLA.
We also hosted the Mountain Safety Info Avalanche Rescue and Mountain Emergency Medicine Workgroup here in Leysin at Chalet Epicea.
The group worked on a final revision of the AvaSAR protocols and started to test the brand new online collaboration platform. After 6 years of work with version 1 platform, MountainSafety.info is implementing a major update of their online content management, collaboration, review and translation tools. As well the workgroup collaboration tools exist in almost 20 languages, allowing subject matter experts from all over the world to share their knowhow and to contribute to translations without the barrier of having to manage a user interface in a foreign language.
This has been a really great end to the summer season and a chance to learn a lot of new things. And, like Deep Purple I’ve now been on the main stage in Montreux 🙂
