I’m an International Mountain Leader and First aid Trainer. I left the UK in 1999 to live and work in Europe. Since 2003 we’ve lived in Switzerland. We are based in Leysin in the Swiss Alps where we also run the Epicea B&B providing accommodation for our clients. I’m a former director of the British Association of International Mountain Leaders (BAIML) and the president of the international body the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA). I’ve represented UIMLA to the UIAA – International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation and as a member of the avalanche commission of the International Commission for Alpine Rescue (ICAR).

Here in Switzerland we can get a reduced price day ticket for public transport. If you have a half-price card already then it’s around 50-60 CHF for a day pass depending when you buy it. So, I took a train from Leysin changing at Aigle, then Brig before getting a bus from Goppenstein to Fafleralp.
